This is the final audio post in our five part series featuring Dr Joe Dispenza, as he shares tips and tools on how to remove limitations for a better life.

Dr Dispenza holds a degree in biochemistry from Rutgers Univ, with an emphasis on neuroscience.  He was a featured expert in the movie What the Bleep Do We Know? and has visited over 24 countries around the world teaching thousands of people how to reprogram their thinking using proven scientific principles.

…and our interest is to measure transformation.

And my theory is, that if we can measure transformation in the brain or in the heart, or in the field around people’s bodies, or genetic changes—and we’ve done all of those things—then people will begin to understand that it’s possible for them to do the same.
And just like an infection affects a whole community that creates disease, I believe that health can be as infectious as disease. And I’m happy to say that we’ve witnessed some amazing things in people changing their health and their life.

I wrote my third book called ‘You Are the Placebo’ and I actually show some very specific brain changes in people with certain health conditions to prove that it wasn’t just in their mind, that it was, in fact, in their brain.

And so, before I go on, I’d like to talk to you a little bit about the concept of meditation. Because we use the model of meditation to help people to begin to make those changes.

So, if you think about this:  your senses plug you into your external environment. Everything you’re seeing or smelling or tasting or feeling or hearing, all of your five senses are affecting your brain.
So if you’re waking up in the morning and you’re going through the same routine behaviors as you did the day before, and you’re not in the process of being defined by a vision of the future, then you’re, for the most part, left with the old hardware in your brain from the past.

As a matter of fact, your brain is organized to reflect everything you know from the past.

So, as people wake up, and they begin to pay attention to their body, they start to look around in their environment, they start to do typical things, it’s the external environment that’s turning on different circuits in their brain, causing them to think equal to their environment.

And if you have the idea that your thoughts have something to do with your destiny, as long as you’re thinking equal to your environment, you keep creating the same reality over and over again.

So to change is to think greater than your environment, to think greater than circumstances in your world, to think greater than the conditions in your life.

I think every great person in history understood this. They were defined by a vision that was much bigger than them.

In the last audio we talked about how 95% of who we are by the time we’re 35 years old, is a set of memorized behaviors, beliefs, perceptions, attitudes, emotional reactions, that function like a subconscious computer program.

So then, if you keep doing something over and over again, your body becomes conditioned to be the mind then to truly change is to be greater than your body.

If 95% of who we are by the time we’re 35 years old is a set of memorized behaviors, emotional reactions, and beliefs, and perceptions, even attitudes, that function like a subconscious computer program, then to change is to be greater than the body as the mind because that’s the body being conditioned overtime to be the mind; so crossing that river of change that we talked about,

going from the old self to the new self, beginning that process, of course, is going to feel uncomfortable in your body

and that’s why most people return back to the same state of being.

So then, if you were truly in the process of changing yourself or your life by thought alone, then it would make sense then that you would have to put your body down

and make it stay in one place and no longer do anything, to disconnect from your external environment

which means: close your eyes, or place soft music in the background, or put earplugs in, to diminish the censoring information in your brain, and to literally forget about time.  Stop trying to predict the predictable future based on memories of the past, be in the present moment—and that’s what meditation is about.

Meditation is getting beyond your analytical mind, beginning to eliminate your body, your environment, and time

so that your thoughts in your inner world become more real than anything in your outer world.

The word ‘meditation’ as I said in the last audio  means ‘to become familiar with’.

So then if you’re in a meditation and you’re becoming conscious of your
unconscious thoughts, if you become aware of your automatic propensities or habits or behaviors, if you begin to notice how you’re feeling, the fact that you are observing those states of mind and body is the process of meditation, to know thyself.

And if you think about it, if you can observe those states of mind and body, how you’re thinking, how you’re acting, and how you’re feeling, it means, now, you’re no longer the program; you’re the consciousness now observing the program and that’s when you begin to objectify your subjective self, that’s when you begin to pull out of your biology.

And the more conscious you become of your unconscious states, the less likely you’ll go unconscious in your normal life. Now, if you’re sitting in your meditation and you start to think about new ways of thinking, you begin to rehearse mentally or review in your mind or plan new behaviors, you’re going to demonstrate or new choices you’re going to make, you begin to fire and wire new circuits in your brain. Then, if you keep firing and wiring those circuits, it’ll begin to become familiar to you.

Now, if you’re sitting in your meditation and you start to think about new ways of thinking, you begin to rehearse mentally or review in your mind or plan new behaviors you’re going to demonstrate or new choices you’re going to make, you begin to fire and wire new circuits in your brain

and you start to think about new ways of thinking, to rehearse mentally… plan new behaviors… new choices…

you begin to fire and wire new circuits in your brain.

Then, if you keep firing and wiring those circuits, it’ll begin to become familiar to you.

And if you could cultivate the emotions of what the experience would feel like before it occurred and you understood that emotion would be literally signaling new genes and new ways, and you weren’t going to wait for the experience for the emotion, and you practice those emotional states of opening your heart and feeling gratitude and joy and love and freedom and wholeness, if you do that every single day, biologically and chemically, you would be able to cultivate that emotion a little easier the next time, and it would begin to become familiar to you.
So then, if the word ‘meditation’ means to become familiar with, and you understand that the whole purpose of meditation is to eliminate the environment, to set your body down and get beyond time, then as you begin to make your inner world more real than your outer world,

according to the research that we’ve done over and over again, in over 1,500 to 2,000 people’s brains we’ve studied in meditation, that when you live as a materialist in your life, and you put all your attention on your external environment, your brain waves, the way your brain is processing information, function in what’s called beta brain waves.

In other words, in beta, your outer world is more real than your inner world because you’re more conscious and you’re more aware. Now, if you close your eyes, and you eliminate some sensory information and you sit your body down and you’re not seeing as much or hearing as much or feeling as much, your brain is processing less data so your brain waves slow down and when they slow down, you move into what’s called alpha brain wave patterns.
Now, in alpha, your inner world tends to be more real than your outer world. You still can sense the outer world but you’re paying attention more to the inner world;

It’s the world of imagination.

Now, if you relax a little bit more and your breathing starts to change, you’ll slip into what’s called theta brain wave patterns. That’s when your body is asleep and your mind is awake. Now, if your body has been asleep, and your mind is awake, that means your body is no longer the mind because it’s asleep.

This is where instantaneous change can take place.

And so, we’ll go over how to change your brain waves in the course that we’ll be providing and we’ll show you specifically how to do that so you know when you’re there and when you’re not;

and when you understand how to regulate and change your brain waves, you’ll literally move beyond your analytical mind, because what separates your conscious mind from your subconscious mind is your analytical mind

And we have very specific techniques that we use to slow down the analytical mind and it turns out when you focus on nothing, when you focus on empty space, when you focus on the big, black space behind your eyes, that’s when the brain waves begin to slow down, and not only slow down but get highly organized and highly coherent, and so we’ll touch on that in more details so that you’ll have the tools to be able to practice it in your life.

All of this information that we’re talking about is for you to do something with. That if you have just the smallest part of your day in the morning, when your brain waves…

when you’re waking up in the morning, your brain waves go from delta, which is deep sleep, to theta to alpha to beta to wakefulness

or when you’re going to bed at night, your brain waves go from beta to alpha to theta to delta.

Those two times, the door to the subconscious mind opens up.

What if you were to sit up and close your eyes and be defined by a thought?

In other words, if you are going to change your life by thought alone, if you are going to heal your body by thought alone, or if you are to create some new future time by thought alone, then you have to become thought alone.

If you were to sit down, then, and close your eyes and just begin to relax your body, and begin to become aware of the space behind your eyes—that big, black space behind your eyes—and just relax into that space, and if you notice your mind wandering to people, or things, or emails, or problems that you have, just keep returning back to that big black space behind your eyes.

In time, your brain waves will begin to slow down so practice that.

Try it out in your life and see what happens. That’s when you get to experience the truth of all of this. I’ll see you next time.
